Mediation

Family Law mediation

All judicial districts in Iowa must have procedures in place for mandatory mediation or mandatory judicial settlement conferences for family law cases, such as a dissolution of marriage or child custody action. Some judicial districts require mediation in family law cases regardless of whether each party is represented by an attorney. Other judicial districts require mediation in family law cases where at least one party is represented by an attorney. Mediation is not required in cases initiated by the Child Support Recovery Unit.

Mediation is a great way for parties in family law cases to reach their own resolution to the issues they are facing with the help of a trained and neutral mediator.
